NC Jazz Connections

John Coltrane.  Thelonius Monk.  Billy Taylor.  What did all of these jazz artists have in common?  They were all from North Carolina.

John Coltrane grew up in High Point and was a highly influential jazz saxophonist.  For more on his life, please read the aptly-titled "John Coltrane: His Life and Music" by Lewis Porter.  Thelonius Monk, Billy Taylor, and dozens of other jazz, gospel, blues, and rap artists are studied in the extensive "The African American Music Trails of Eastern North Carolina" by Sarah Bryan and Beverly Patterson.

Romance Readers and Writers Event

Calling all romance readers and writers!  The 2nd annual "When the Heart Dreams" Romance Readers and Writers Weekend Mixer will be held on February 11, 2017 at the Marriott South Park Hotel in Charlotte, NC.  A Q & A luncheon with the writers and workshops are being offered.  16 local and national authors are scheduled to appear, including Sabrina Jeffries and Cindy Holby.  Additionally, the NC Literary Map has an entire genre relegated to "Romance Fiction".  Interested in learning more about this one-day event?  Then please visit this website!
